Sourcing wallets & card holders

Card holders, coin purses, passport wallets and badge reels are small, light and used every day, which is an efficient combination for a giveaway. The range runs from silicone phone-back card stickers and retractable badge reels at the budget end, through PU leather and aluminium business-card boxes, up to soft leather wallets.

Metal and aluminium versions take laser engraving, which produces a durable tone-on-tone mark; PU and silicone are printed or debossed instead. Because these are pocket items, artwork has to survive at small scale — a logo with fine text will fill in, and it is better to know that before sampling than after. Bank branches, insurers and conference organisers are the usual buyers.

Questions buyers ask about wallets & card holders

How the trade works, so you can judge a quote — not a spec sheet about us.

Card holder or badge reel?

Different jobs. A card holder is a personal item carried in a pocket; a badge reel is worn at work and seen all day by colleagues and visitors. For a bank or an insurance branch, the reel is the one that gets daily use. For a conference gift, the holder is what goes home.

Aluminium or PU for a card box?

An aluminium box protects cards from bending and blocks contactless scanning; a PU one is softer, quieter in a pocket and takes a debossed mark. If the selling point is protection, aluminium is the argument. If it is how the thing feels in the hand, PU is.

Where should the logo go?

Debossed into the cover or printed on the front panel for a holder; on the disc or the clip for a reel. Avoid the spine and any fold — a mark printed across a fold cracks along the crease within weeks, which is the most common way these items are spoiled.

Is RFID blocking worth specifying?

It matters if the cards being carried are contactless, which most are now. The blocking is a layer inside the wallet, so it changes neither the look nor the print, and it costs very little to add. It is also the specification people ask about afterwards.
